What's Next For The Bling Johnson Show?

Season 1 is a wrap! It's hard to believe 12 episodes are behind us and season 1 of The Bling Johnson Show is complete!

It wasn't that long ago after filming episode 3 that I got the call from the previous tv station letting me know that due to a scheduling change in their late night programming they would not be airing our show. I found this out just 2 days before we were set to air episode 1. A ton of money had been spent, advertisers had been lined up and expectations were high, and I didn't have a tv deal. I had spent months promoting the show, including the time and network and just like that I was back to square 1.

I'll never forget that day because that day is the day that I KNEW I was meant to be on tv. Now that might sound crazy after just getting a call from a tv station letting me know that I wasn't going to be on tv. I got back to my shop, Let's Get Famous Customs, and setup my video camera and recorded exactly what I was feeling at that moment. While I was visibly furstrated, I also knew that what I did from that point forward would make or break the tv show that we had worked so hard to build.

September 15, 2011 - The day I found out about the show not airing.

Within a week and a half we had a meeting with My Austin TV, KBVO due to the persistence of our Director of Operations, Brian Wild. We went into that meeting and we were amazed at how great they were to us. They appreciated what we were trying to do with the show and made us feel welcome at My Austin TV. On October 15, 2011 The Bling Johnson Show premiered on television for the first time. My favorite part about being on tv was when my friend and camera man Jeff Bryant texted me a picture of my name on the cable guide from his tv. That's when it hit me. This was happening!

We filmed 12 episodes in just over 3 months highlighting local artists at 11 different venues including Antone's, Speakeasy, The Stage on Sixth, Momo's, Beso Cantina, The Broken Spoke, Shooters, The Continental Club, Uncle Billy's on Lake Travis, Luckenbach Dance Hall and even Central Texas Harley-Davidson. We built up quite the live following with many of our friends and many new ones we picked up along the way.

SO WHAT'S NEXT?

Due to the success of the show in our inaugural season, My Austin TV is giving us a prime time slot of Sunday nights at 9:30pm starting NEXT SUNDAY, January 15th!! We are really excited about this as there are even more potential viewers watching tv at that time than our previous time on Saturday afternoon. Next Sunday's episode is a really cool "behind the scenes" look at our staff, some hilarious stories & bloopers and some of the craziest footage we've shot over the past couple years that has never been released! You will definitely want to check this out.

The week after that starting Sunday January 22, we will begin re-airing some of our previous episodes to reach an even bigger audience during our break from filming. However, just because we won't be airing new episodes for a while doesn't mean we won't be filming. We have some HUGE plans including filming many of the segments for upcoming shows including shoots in Las Vegas, Daytona Beach Florida, New Orleans and all over Austin. Stay tuned to Facebook for more info on that. In late February or early March we will begin filming the live shows at the venues again and Season 2 of The Bling Johnson Show will begin airing in mid to late March.

I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it again. THANK YOU ALL for making this journey so fullfilling and enjoyable for me. All of your notes, texts, comments on Facebook & Twitter and support of our live shows makes me feel so proud to know every one of you. When I say "Let's Get Famous", I don't just mean me. I mean ALL OF US! This party is just getting started in 2012 so fasten your seat belts!!
